「STAR-CCM+」加入了CD-adapco特有的多面體網格技術、操作界面簡單易用，是熱流體分析工程師
強有力的工具。多面體網格（polyhedral）生成方法不僅更快捷、簡單，而且相對於四面體網格
(Tetrahedral)，耗費更少的記憶體便能夠得到更高精度的分析結果。
「STAR-CCM+ v2」界面非常友好，對表面準備，如包面（surface wrapper）、表面重構(surface
re-mesh)及體網格生成（多面體-polyhedral、四面體-tetrahedral、六面體核心網格-trim）等功
能進行了拓展，且在並行計算(HPC)上取得巨大改進； 不僅求解器可以並行計算，對前後處理也能
通過並行來實現，大大提供了分析效率。在計算速度方面，比上一版本v1成功實現了在64位LINUX
機器上計算速度提高20%的目標。在計算過程中可實時監控分析結果（如向量、標量和結果統計圖
表等）的功能，同時實現了工程問題後處理數據方面的高度實用性、流體分析的高性能化、解析對
象的複雜化、用戶水平範圍的擴大化。 為了滿足新一代CFD模擬要求，此求解器採用了連續介質力

CATIA是英文 Computer Aided Tri-Dimensional Interface Application 的縮寫。
是世界上一種主流的CAD/CAE/CAM 一體化軟體。在70年代Dassault Aviation 成為了
第一個用戶，CATIA 也應運而生。從1982年到1988年，CATIA 相繼發佈了1版本、2版
本、3版本，並於1993年發佈了功能強大的4版本，現在的CATIA 軟體分為V4版本和
V5版本兩個系列。V4版本應用於UNIX 平台，V5版本應用於UNIX和Windows 兩種平台。
V5版本的開發開始於1994年。為了使軟體能夠易學易用，Dassault System 於94年開
始重新開發全新的CATIA V5版本，新的V5版本界面更加友好，功能也日趨強大，並且
開創了CAD/CAE/CAM 軟體的一種全新風格。
法國 Dassault Aviation 是世界著名的航空航太企業。其產品以幻影2000和陣風戰鬥
機最為著名。CATIA的產品開發商Dassault System 成立於1981年。而如今其在CAD/

航空航太：
CATIA 源於航空航太工業，是業界無可爭辯的領袖。以其精確安全，可靠性滿足商業
、防禦和航空航太領域各種應用的需要。在航空航太業的多個項目中，CATIA 被應用
於開發虛擬的原型機，其中包括Boeing飛機公司（美國）的Boeing 777 和Boeing
737，Dassault 飛機公司（法國）的陣風（Rafale）戰鬥機、Bombardier飛機公司（
加拿大）的Global Express 公務機、以及Lockheed Martin飛機公司（美國）的
Darkstar無人駕駛偵察機。Boeing飛機公司在Boeing 777項目中，應用CATIA設計了除
發動機以外的100%的機械零件。並將包括發動機在內的100%的零件進行了預裝配。
Boeing 777也是迄今為止，唯一進行100%數位化設計和裝配的大型噴氣客機。參與
Boeing 777項目的工程師、工裝設計師、技師以及項目管理人員超過1700人，分佈於
美國、日本、英國的不同地區。他們通過1,400套CATIA 工作站聯繫在一起，進行並行
工作。Boeing 的設計人員對777的全部零件進行了三維實體造型，並在電腦上對整個
777進行了全尺寸的預裝配。預裝配使工程師不必再製造一個物理樣機，工程師在預裝

quite a few tasks under their Sunset Boulevard compounds. They're
recently working on Anthony Minghella's major motion picture release, "Cold
Mountain", edited by Walter Murch. Also to DFT's credit is the brainpower
collaboration in the development of the program called, "Film Logic" or
as we so well know, "Cinema Tools".
Oh but wait, there's more! DFT is also popular for their in-house
training courses in Final Cut Pro and Cinema Tools. Combine this with their
other assortment of training videos and you have a powerhouse of
instructional know-how. With these kinds of credits to their name, you
can rest assured that any training material they produce will be worth
its weight in gold!

So I had to see it for myself! Before I go into the details of the DVD
itself, let me just say the packaging of the DVD is great. You wont have to
worry about the DVD sliding around lose through the mail. The DVD jewel
case utilizes a center-lock mechanism to keep the disk safe and secure even
by the harshest of postal field punts. The overall packaging is very nice
and professional.

Instructor: Mark LEFITZ
In this two-disc set, Mark Lefitz creates a fully realized 3D model from
an original concept painting by Feng Zhu. He discusses the analysis and
setup of the shot, and demonstrates his techniques for efficiently
creating a 3D environment using Maya polygon and NURBS tool-kit. Mark
explains scene blocking, using animated cameras and their attributes, and
how to integrate an animated object in the scene. He manipulates Maya
fluids to show how to achieve the desired 3D sky environment, and shows
some of his techniques for using painted textures and properly applying
UVs. With a painted map from the scene, Mark breaks down the various
components and shows how to apply layers to Maya shaders for maximum
effect. In Shake, Mark demonstrates the use of Depth, Normals and
Occlusion passes, and how to manipulate them in the comp to achieve
atmosphere and zblur. Lastly, he explains how to use ambient occlusion
as a method for Global Illumination, and discusses the initial setup and
optimization for this pass and its integration into the final comp.

Visual Effects Compositing Fundamentals
Instructor: Gary JACKEMUK
In this introductory DVD, seasoned compositor Gary Jackemuk teaches the
fundamentals of compositing with an emphasis on production. Gary starts
by creating a sample composite, discussing the essentials of digital formats
and color space. From there, Gary illustrates the process of using mattes
generated by both 3D applications and live-action plates. He discusses the
details of combining and layering by looking at the mathematics behind the
most frequently used operators. The DVD covers color operations, filters,
transformations and various methods of generating mattes. By walking you
through a few composites, Gary shows you how these techniques are applied
to actual visual effects production tasks. Although Gary uses Shake to
demonstrate these compositing fundamentals, the techniques are applicable to
any compositing package, including Digital Fusion, Flame/Inferno and After Effects.
